Abaana
Abaana is a charity set up to help children in Africa. The word "Abaana" comes from a language found in the country of Uganda (East Africa) and means "children”. Over 500,000 children will die in Africa needlessly and we believe that we can and should do something about it.
Emmanuel is one of the cutest and funniest babies I have met in Africa. However, his smile and giggles are far removed from his tragic past. Emmanuel was found on a rubbish tip in Uganda, only discovered because a passer-by heard a faint cry and discovered his small, malnourished body wrapped in a plastic bag. He was taken to a home for street children where he was cared for, fed and nursed back to health. For Emmanuel, even a couple of days meant the difference between life and death.
Last year, through the gifts and fundraising of hundreds of people who share our heart, we were able to send £60,000 to meet the needs of many needy children like Emmanuel. But for many it will be too late soon.
